Amazon is offering 3 (+1) full version games free for download, namely Build-a-lot, Jewel Quest 2, The Scruffs and Big Kahuna Reef. This offer this valid until February 10, 2009.

Though being free, Amazon still needs your credit card information before you can start the free downloads. You will also need to have Amazon Downloader installed on your computer in order to download those free games.

The offer seems to be only valid to those inside US. I tried faking a US address as my billing address, and Amazon let it go. However, when I place my order, it says:

We could not process your order because of geographical restrictions on the product which you were attempting to purchase. Please refer to the terms of use for this product to determine the geographical restrictions.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

I’m unsure why Amazon restrict the offer to only Americans. Let me know if you have luck downloading these free games outside the US.

SheepTech is 1 Year Old!

SheepTech is now one, after a year from January 12, 2008. The first year wasn’t good at all, with almost no updates for 8 months due to heavy school work, resulting in a very very slow growth.

I made a comeback in December 2008 though, and this stimulates growth again. Daily traffic is tripled while RSS subscribers went over 200.

The look and feel of the blog hasn’t change much, except for some tweaks here and there.

Google PageRank of the homepage remains 2, while several internal posts are having PR2 and PR1, with an exception—the Apple WordPress theme post with PR3, higher than the homepage.

Please do let me know if you have any suggestion or thoughts on SheepTech.

Dual-Core & Quad-Core Might Soon Be a Joke

Dual core and quad core processors might be a joke to our grandchildren in future, with Dell claiming that it would soon be mass producing supercomputers with 960 cores for the general consumer market. Just like how those brick-like big and heavy mobile phones looks more like a joke to today’s generation.

Eric Greffier, a Dell senior executive, said: “Before mobile phones were reserved for the few, now we can’t live without them. It will be the same with these supercomputers. They are the building block for the computing of the future.”

The Tesla supercomputer is 250 times faster than an average PC. Priced between £4,000 and £8,000, it looks pretty much the same as a CPU of an average PC. If the supercomputer is retailed with a zero missing in its price tag, everything would just be oh-so-perfect.

To all FPS games lover, here’s something for you. Area 51, an FPS game published by Midway, is now released as a free game. Meaning you can download and play the game in full version, without paying a single penny. This is made possible by the sponsored advertisements, but I have not seen any after completing 16 areas out of the 18 areas of the game.

Game description:

The U.S. Army has received a distress signal from Area 51 where a viral outbreak has just shut down the research facility and the automated quarantine procedures have locked all scientific and military personnel inside. A small Special Forces unit including Specialist Ethan Cole of the HAZMAT (hazardous materials) Division is sent to investigate.

With a game guide, it wouldn’t take too long for an average joe like me to complete the game. I’m about to finish the game in just 2 days, in Easy mode of course.

The game crashes quite often on my laptop powered by Windows Vista, and it’s really frustrating when it crash right before you reach the next checkpoint. It would be crazy to have the autosave disabled in this case.

The Sheep Decided To Boycott Entrecard

Nothing to do with how great or how lousy the system is. Nothing to do with Entrecard in general, just that I cannot disagree more on how people behind Entrecard handle things.

In short, an Entrecard member’s account was deleted because he claims (pure claiming with no proof) that he could drop 300 cards within 5 seconds. This alone has got my disagreement. But things doesn’t stop here.

The member who got his account deleted was questioning for the reason, and the reason given was because he claims that he could drop 300 cards in 5 seconds, even without any concrete proof. Proof such as logs are not given—instead, Entrecard insist that they are doing the right thing to delete a member’s account with the claim alone.

Entrecard also mentioned that in order to restore his account, he must either:

Provide us with the details of the method you utilized to subvertEntrecard security or
Post publically on the same forum thread with the following exact wording:
“I wish to apologize to my fellow Entrecard users for undermining their faith in the Entrecard system in order to boost my ego. I do not in fact have a method for automatically dropping cards rapidly. I also apologize to the Entrecard programmer, who is in fact awesome.“

Entrecard also demanded for a scan or digital photograph of a piece of paper, signed and dated by the member, with the following wording:

“I commit henceforth never to abuse, or claim to abuse, the security systems of Entrecard.”

This shows how proud Entrecard could be of itself. To me, all these shows that they doesn’t appreciate their members or even respect them at all. This have nothing to do with me, but it is enough to make me boycott Entrecard.

Here you go, the second SheepTech report card. The first month performed better than this month, as less effort is put on promoting.

Traffic

This month’s traffic is not even half of last January’s. Just 712 unique visitors with 1,232 pageviews. Search engine traffic has increased, and Yahoo! was responsible for it. Google doesn’t seem to trust this blog yet, and it ranks quite poor there.

RSS Feed Subscribers

Nothing much changed. At the time of writing last month’s report, there are 15 subscribers. This time, it is something near too—16!. Also, only one subscriber is willing to let me know who he is, which is Gary.

Money Made

$0, for having 0 advertisement for the whole month.

Last Month’s Goal

Make it to Google’s first page for the keyword “SheepTech” – It’s ranking on the first page now, but it’s at only the fifth position.

30 RSS subscribers and 3k-5k visitors – RSS subscriber have not even reach 20 yet, and only 712 unique visitors are recorded for the entire February. Failed for both.
