SheepTech is Now 3 Year Old

3rd BirthdayJanuary 12th, 2011 marked the third year since SheepTech came to existent in 2008. Fast-forward three years, SheepTech still look the same, with the same logo and WordPress theme. The only changing aspect on SheepTech is the numbersβ€”in terms of traffic, revenue and articles.

Traffic

For the past one year, SheepTech had receive more than half a million visitors, peaking in December with 64,598.

Revenue

SheepTech Monthly Revenue: March 2010 to December 2010
*no data for revenue before March 2010

Revenue peaked in December too with a record breaking $1,237.63, a five fold increment comparing to that of March 2010.

Other Statistics

SheepTech Statistics

To be honest, SheepTech wasn’t launched at the best time. I was having a major exam in high school in 2008, and the year after, I got myself into a flying school. Not much time were spent on the blog, resulting in a very low number of published articles (216 articles in 3 years is laughable).

Fun Facts

SheepTech.com was first registered in 2004, according to archive.org. The archived page is just showing the host’s welcome page, probably nothing was ever built using this domain.

SheepTech once had a PageRank of 7 in June 2008. That was of course only temporary. SheepTech now has a PageRank of 4.

The username sheeptech was registered on YouTube by someone else in May 2008. That account was created for his music project, and apparently he uploaded a video featuring techno music with a brief appearance of a sheep.

SheepTech.com now uses the username SheepTechTV on YouTube. Lesson to be learned, register your brand name as soon as possible across all social sites before it’s too late.

Thanks Vuong. Your blog is quite successful in my opinion at just 2 months old. Maybe it will take a while more for the money to roll in, but you already have a very nice community there. Keep it up!

PageRank 7?? That is sick! Even 4 is not bad. I’m stuck at 3 for almost 2 years now πŸ™

That was just a glitch on Google’s side. People will be protesting in front of their Mountain View office if they award a few months old and relatively unknown blog a PR7 long-term.

PageRank doesn’t really matter as long as your traffic and revenue is doing good (like CravingTech :))

Hehe thanks but unfortunately some private advertisers still use PageRank as a “measure of success” πŸ™

But as you said, I’m not bothered with it anymore. I used to check my PageRank every few months just to see whether it’s changed

Ideas don’t always come, but distractions almost certainly do. At times I will have several articles in the draft, and some other time, none at all.

    Thats a great journey.
I think number of posts for three years is less, but it shows the quality of your each posts.

I’m in your side, instead of posting boring articles very frequently, we can publish useful posts with some gaps, since we are part time bloggers.

    Good luck for your future.

All the best Vincent. I want to bring to your notice that the commentluv links are nofollow in your comments.

    Vincent replied:

    Thanks Ayush.

I made it nofollow intentionally to deter spams. Some bloggers force themselves to comment even when they have nothing to say, for the sake of a dofollow link. I don’t think that would help.
