Rehost Image
The best part of this add-on is its ability to upload silently. Right-click on an image, select “Rehost Image and Copy to Clipboard“, and nothing happens. A moment later, you will be notified on the status bar that your image has successfully uploaded. The image URL is automatically copied to your clipboard, just paste it wherever you want and you’re done. Totally zero interruption to whatever you are doing.

Other than Imageshack, Rehost Image also supports ftp uploading. With it, you can upload any image to your server without first downloading it to your computer.

You can also opt to keep a history log of the image URLs.

ImageShack right-click
This one is a tad simpler. After installing, an extra option will be available in your context menu. Right-click on an image, click “Upload to ImageShack“, and the current page you are on will be redirected to ImageShack. You can then copy the image URL.

Not very convenient, especially when you have to upload multiple images from the same page. It’s slightly buggy too when I tested it.

imgur uploader
Works almost the same as Imageshack right-click, except it opens a new tab to upload, and imgur is much cooler than ImageShack. It’s the primary image host on Reddit after all, so you can have the least worry on whether Imgur can handle the load your image generates.

Image URLs are short, so it’s Twitter-ready (don’t even mention Yfrog, the blinking ads, ugh).

ImageShack & imgur Right-Click Upload Firefox Add-on

With Less Spam, Please, a Firefox add-on, you can generate a temporary email address right within the browser itself. Simply right-click on an email field and click on “Insert a temporary mail address“, a random email address capable of receiving emails will be generated.

Right-click again and select “Open the temporary email mailbox for this site” and you can check your mail. The generated email address for any given website will always remain the same.

After installing the add-on, you are required to first select a mail prefix before anything would work. On the same options panel, you can also select your preferred disposable email provider (YopMail, Humaility, Mailinator or trash-mail.com).

At the time of writing, this add-on is compatible with Firefox 3.6 – 4.0b6.

Less Spam, Please – Firefox Addon to Generate Temporary Email

I would have switched to Chrome as my primary browser if not for the Firefox add-ons I cannot live without. If you are on the same boat, you would want to have a look at this Firefox add-on — Hide Caption Titlebar Plus.

Installing this little add-on will remove your Firefox’s title bar, and move the “minimize, maximize & close” buttons down. This is how my Firefox looks like without the title bar:

The options are pretty extensive, allowing you to dictate which window’s title bar you want to rid, which you want to retain (e.g. pop ups).

Now we can have most screen real estate for things that matters

Hide Title Bar in Firefox (a la Chrome)

This is what Rapportive do — kick out the sidebar advertisement from Gmail and replace it with information about the sender of the email you are reading. Here’s what it will display:

• Photo pulled from Gravatar
• Job, position or employment information pulled from LinkedIn
• Social media accounts that match the email address, courtesy of Rapleaf
• If a Twitter account is present, it will display the 3 latest tweets

It’s even possible to add personal notes under the contact profile.

If you are curious on how your profile is displayed to other Rapportive users, you can view it by going to “Sent Mail”, click on any of your sent mail, and lastly, simply hover on your name:

The Dark Side

Remember that embarrassing MySpace profile you created years ago? Or that Bebo and Friendster profile? No? They don’t belong to you?

Problem 1: You have created several accounts on different social networking sites in the pass, with all the embarrassing photos, information about you written years ago that no longer hold any truth today, and those bling blings you have pasted all over your profile.

And you have totally forgot about it! Guess what? If your email recipient have Rapportive installed, he will be able to discover all these history of yours!

Not cool, definitely not.

Problem 2: Inaccurate information. In my case, Rapportive is grabbing my outdated LinkedIn employment information. It is not reflecting the modification I have made some time back. Besides, it’s also linking to my very old Flickr account that I no longer use.

Heck, my email address is not even linked to that old account anymore. But somehow they are still able to dig it out and completely ignore my new account (which is linked to my email address).

Rapportive is well aware of this problem:

If you see data which is inaccurate, abusive or otherwise objectionable, we want you to be able to correct it. Soon you will be able to edit information directly from within Rapportive, but while we are working on this, please send us corrections by email and we will deal with them promptly.

I have sent them an email, and Martin (co-founder) rectified my information on a Sunday!

Problem 3: Google is not gonna like this. They invested so much time perfecting Gmail, giving out so much space, and you are removing their only source of income to over all these cost?

But this is more of a Google problem than ours. They are not any less evil after all

Get to Know Strangers Who Email You

Although ImageShack supports image transloading (direct upload from URL instead of downloading to localdisk and uploading again), it’s still not as convenient as you have to copy and paste the image URL, while the add-on will enable you to upload image on any websites with just 2 clicks.

Fortunately, there is someone kind enough to update the add-on to be compatible with Firefox 3. You can download here – http://unsubstantial.info/imageshack.

That wouldn’t work on Firefox 3.5 beta though. If you’re using Firefox 3.5 beta, try this one here instead. You have to register in the forum before you are allowed to download the add-on.

After downloading, open the add-ons window on your Firefox (Tools > Add-ons), then simply drag the xpi file into the window and install it.

P.s: I’ve only tested the one for Firefox 3.5 beta. Works like a charm.

ImageShack “Right-click” Firefox Add-on for Firefox 3

Updating to the latest version of Gmail Notifier (0.6.3.11 at the time of writing) didn’t help at all, but fortunately this can be fixed by simply installing this: hosted2.xpi

It works for me, as you can see:

[Workaround] Firefox Gmail Notifier Failed to Log In

The thumbnails, which are scenes from the video, clearly reveal the content of the video, eliminating the guessing game. You can choose to see thumbnails from the best scenes or from all scenes. You can also opt to filter thumbnails so that it will only show scenes that contain human faces.

Clicking on any of the thumbnail will skip the video automatically to the specific scene you have selected.

Show Time-stamped Breakdown of YouTube Video Scenes

Clicking on it will instantly close all tabs of that specific domain. Say you are looking for some neat Firefox themes on addons.mozilla.org, and without you noticing, you have plenty of tabs opened just to view those themes.

Instead of closing all the tabs one by one, you can simply right-click on any of them, click on “Close all addons.mozilla.org tabs“—poof!, they will all be closed. This would be especially useful if you do research online a lot.
