Increase Facebook News Feed Font Size

For no apparent reason, Facebook decided to reduce the News Feed font size to 11px from its previous 13px. You have two choices, either squeeze your eyes every time you use Facebook and hope that it will adapt to the small font size over time, or return the font size to its previous glory.

Ctrl-+ just won’t do the cut because everything else goes bigger as well, including photos and the blue Facebook bar on top.

Here’s a better way of doing it:

If you are using Firefox, first install Greasemonkey or Stylish if you haven’t already. Then go ahead and install this userscript/userstyle.

Reload Facebook on your browser and voila, the font size will be increased to its former bigger size. The userstyle works on other browsers too, including Internet Explorer, Chrome and Opera.

How to Add Retweet Button Using Greasemonkey

I just broke my retweet virginity this afternoon, and it is not a good experience at all (first time retweeting). First, copy and paste the tweet content to my Twitter / Home. Then add “RT @username” in front of it. How much work is that?

The solution? Firefox + Greasemonkey. Just install this Userscript and a convenient Retweet button will be sitting right under the reply button, like this:

When the “Retweet” button is clicked, the content will be retweet-ed in this format – “Retweeting @username: [content]. You can however customize the output to your liking by editing the script.

I have changed mine to RT instead Retweeting, that’s 8 characters less.

To edit the output, right-click on the Greasemonkey icon, select Manage User Scripts, select Twitter Enhancements: Retweet This then click on the Edit button.

Look for “‘Retweeting @%a: %c” in the script. @%a is the username of original Tweet, and %c is the tweet content. Customize it to your liking.

Save it when you are done then you are good to go.

Watch YouTube in High Quality All The Time [&fmt=18]

It is no longer a secret that we can watch certain YouTube videos in high definition now, let alone high quality which had been rolled out for quite some time already. All you have to do is to click on the small blue link under a YouTube video that reads “watch in high quality” or “watch in HD“.

But little you know (well, probably) that it is also possible to watch a YouTube video in high quality even when the “watch in high quality/HD” link is not available. All you have to do is just simply add “&fmt=18” at the back of a YouTube video URL.

For example, instead of

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HPfAhA2FBU,

Add “&fmt=18” at the back of the URL, and go to this URL instead:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HPfAhA2FBU&fmt=18

If you are on Firefox and have Greasemonkey add-on installed, you can make use of the YouTube HD userscript to automatically add the “&fmt=18” string to all videos you watch on YouTube, making watching high quality videos effortless.

This trick works on most YouTube videos, but not all. I have tested it on the RickRoll video, and it doesn’t work. Please do also note that higher quality meaning more bandwidth will be required, so forget about it if you are on a very slow internet connection.
