Page Up, Page Down, Home & End Not Working in Firefox?

If your Firefox give no respond when you click the Page Up, Page Down, Home or End button, you might have activated caret browsing. You might also notice that there will be a blinking text cursor when you click on a passage or text on a website.

You might have accidentally activated the caret browsing without noticing it and started scolding when those buttons won’t work.

Caret Browsing - Firefox

To solve the problem, just simply press on the F7 key.

    Good Hint.

Any ideas how to get back the menu bar?
That is the “File Edit View … ” line.
Curious thing is that when I open a new window I do get the menu back but not in the current window.

    Hmm.
I just loaded a new version of Flash this morning, now even the down arrow does not work, F7 or no F7.
If I can’t fix it I will have to move to Chrome os Safari.
It has only been hapening since the upgrade which made the mail navigation bar stay at the top of the screen.
    Tim.

Thanks for providing the resolution. I have had this problem for the last few weeks, and I had thought that an auto update to the latest version of Firefox caused this. I even looked into Mozilla’s List of Known Issues and almost started to report this bug.

Good thing I googled my page up/down problem and this was the first link.

  58. Jimi - February 20, 2012 @ 2:44 pm

Oh man thank you very much!!!!

  59. Allan - March 14, 2012 @ 2:58 am

Thanks. Up and Down arrows were behaving like Home and End keys, and driving me nuts. The F7 key was the answer. Now I’ll have to remember 7 and 11. F7 to get in and out of caret browsing and F11 to get in and out of full screen mode (another black hole I fell into recently)
