Internet Explorer 8As title, Microsoft has made Internet Explorer 8 Release Candidate available on 26th of January. I have already tested Internet Explorer 8 a while ago on Windows 7 (will be writing about it after I’m done exploring).

To assure you that it’s worth knowing more about Internet Explorer 8, yes, it passed the Acid2 Browser Test (IE6 & IE7 didn’t make it).

Laptop screen showing SheepTech.com(Windows only): Turning off the computer screen can be as easy as a button press for desktop computers, but most laptops do not come with a button or even a shortcut key to do just that. If that is the case, you can either configure your laptop to turn off the display after x minutes, or simply close your laptop lid.

Both of the ways are not too practical. You won’t want to have your laptop to turn off the screen half way watching a movie, nor you would want the display to stay on while you are off for lunch. I am unsure if having the lid closed while the laptop is still on will overheat it, but why take the risk when you can simply set up a shortcut key to turn off the screen whenever you want?

LoudScout logo(Windows only): How often do you download a large .zip or .rar archives just because of one particular file in it among tens of others? It happens to me quite often. If you notice, I usually include a thumbnail on each of SheepTech’s blog post.

For example, I’d usually go hunt for designer’s icon out there for Twitter posts. Most of these icons come in different sizes, colors and file formats, and will be compressed into a .zip or .rar file for downloading. But all I need is just one icon for my blog post, why on earth should I download all other unnecessary icons?

This video is not available in your countryYou might not notice this if you are staying in US, but some YouTube videos, especially official music videos, are restricted to viewers from the United States only. Whenever a viewer from outside US wants to view those videos, YouTube says “This video is not available in your country“.

Twitter birdI just broke my retweet virginity this afternoon, and it is not a good experience at all (first time retweeting). First, copy and paste the tweet content to my Twitter / Home. Then add “RT @username” in front of it. How much work is that?

The solution? Firefox + Greasemonkey. Just install this Userscript and a convenient Retweet button will be sitting right under the reply button, like this:
